What’s for dinner tonight? Does this question stop you in your tracks? Daily? You’re not alone! Want some quick dinner tips?
On average most people don’t know what they are having for dinner that night by 4PM!
That means they have to figure it all out within the next couple hours before the family starts yelling – “What’s for dinner tonight?” “I’m hungry” “When are we eating?”
Does this scene feel familiar? I’m stressed just writing this out! I have been there!
Here are 3 quick dinner tips to help to from finding yourself in this same situation.
- Meal plan – oh does that stress you out? Feel overwhelm? I hear ya! But hear me out. If you just take a few minutes over the weekend to think about what days are going to be busy and you’re going to need a meal planned, jot down your go to family recipes that are easy, You know the ones I’m talking about – you don’t have to look at a recipe. You can shop without having to make a long list…they can be done in no time at all. Isn’t that easy meal planning?
- Make extras and freeze them for quick dinners. Making a meatloaf or lasagna and know you aren’t going to finish all the leftovers? Freeze them. They are all cooked and ready to go for those nights when you need something done’ Just take out from the freezer the night before or in the morning. Reheat when you get home add a salad and you’re good to go!
- Shelf space set aside items that can make a meal – jarred spaghetti sauce and noodles. Keep frozen meatballs in the freezer and you’ve got a meal! Cans of chili can be great toppers for a baked potatoes or hot dogs. Or make some great nachos. We love Trader Joe’s vegetarian chili. Even though we aren’t vegetarians.
These three simple ideas can keep you stress free at 4PM and out of the take out line! Believe me, the time you spend in the drive thru can be spent at home making a much better meal!
